Word is that Yahoo’s share of the search market dropped from 30.4% in September to 19.4% in December. In this same span of time, MSN rose up to 16.4%. Google’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 112% as usual.

I’m not sure if this is because MSN’s improving or if Yahoo’s bi-monthly giant algorithm changes of doom have reduced its results to an utter crapshoot. Seriously, search for ‘jackets’ in Yahoo. The first two results are from the Armani Freaking Exchange. Signs of a series of terrible algorithm decisions, or wishful thinking for a cutomer base on Yahoo’s part?

No wonder their ad revenue is down, as a lifelong fan of Yahoo I know that I’m having to spend my planet-killing search time on Google to have any hope of finding anything I’m looking for. Send the results back to September of last year or so and they might have a chance.
